Common roadside problems
Most roadside calls in Dubai come down to a handful of problems:
- A flat or burst tyre — see flat tyre assistance
- A car that won't start — often a battery that has given up in the heat
- Overheating — especially in summer traffic
- Warning lights that make you unsure whether to keep driving
Describe the problem when you call — what you saw, heard or smelt, and what the dashboard is showing. That helps us work out whether it can be dealt with at the roadside or whether the car needs to go to a garage.
When roadside help isn't enough
Some faults can't be fixed safely at the side of the road. If that's the case, we'll say so straight away and quote to recover the car to your garage, the dealer or home — so you don't pay for a visit that won't solve the problem.
Stay safe while you wait
- Switch on your hazard lights and pull as far off the road as you safely can.
- On highways such as Sheikh Zayed Road or Emirates Road, leave the car on the side away from traffic and wait behind the barrier if there is one.
- Don't stand between your car and moving traffic.
- Place your warning triangle behind the car if it's safe to walk there.
- In summer, keep water with you and avoid sitting in a closed car with the engine off.
